The neighborhood was pastureland until its development. The common entrance to the neighborhood has an oak tree that is over 300 years old. The neighborhood has named the oak tree "Oakridge Sentinel". Prior to the subdivision’s development, the site by the oak tree also had a circa 1800 cypress house that had to be demolished.
